At the Grand Rapids Mud Run we love mud, we love obstacles, we love our participants, but we also love the causes and organizations we support. Seven years ago when the GR Mud Run first dug into the amazing Grand Rapids dirt, we did so for the same reason we are now, to support a cause we truly believe in. 100% (yes, you read that correctly),100% of the money brought in from race entries and sponsorships is donated to a National Youth Ministry Organization, Never The Same .
Never The Same believes in the power for change that students have in our world. They focus on building leadership in students across the United States through Never The Same Camp in the summer and on middle and high school campuses through Claim Your Campus throughout the school year. Working with students puts Never The Same on the front lines of change. The Grand Rapids Mud Run is proud of our relationship with such a bold organization.
Giving money is great, but the causes we support don’t stop there! Each year, the GR Mud Run partners with a mission in the Grand Rapids area. This year we are excited to be working with the Holland Rescue Mission! As runners complete our course, we encourage them to leave their mud covered shoes in designated bins. Those bins are taken to Model Coverall, a local uniform store, who washes the shoes. The shoes are then given to the Holland Rescue Mission and sold in their store. This process benefits not only the organizations involved, it improves the local economy, and provides discounted footwear to those in need.
So, as you consider whether or not you want to pay $45 to have an amazingly muddy day, we want you to know where your entry fees are going. We hope that you will sign up and run the GR Mud Run with us on Saturday, August 27th. We’ll see you on the course!
